Pazo de Monterrey 2016, La Celestina 2014 and Venta La Ossa 2013 have obtained the gold medal at the Mundus Vini International Awards, organised in Germany and whose results have just been made public. These awards are one of the most prestigious internationally, and it is especially relevant in central European countries.
The competition has a jury made up of oenologists, winemakers and wine distributors, sommeliers and expert journalists from around the world that perform a blind tasting of the over 6,000 wines that have been submitted to this edition.
The medals obtained once again endorse the quality of the wines and they add to the different national and international awards recently received.
Pazo de Monterrey Godello 2016, made in Bodega Pazos del Rey, in the D. O. Monterrei, expresses the essence of the Mediterranean and Atlantic characteristics present in the Verín Valley. The 2016 vintage especially emphasises the finesse of the white flower aromas while maintaining the typical freshness of this variety.
La Celestina, a new wine recently launched to the market by Bodega Atalayas de Golbán, is a wine committed to the style of Ribera del Duero wines, and it incorporates the exclusive personality of Soria’s side of the Ribera, from where it originates. Made from vineyards ranging between 60 and 80 years of age near San Esteban de Gormaz, very close to the Atauta Valley, this wine is mature and elegant with a finesse typical of the great Ribera del Duero wines.
On the other hand, Venta La Ossa Syrah, made by Bodegas Mano a Mano, has also been awarded an important prize by the jury. This wine, exclusively made with the Syrah variety, expresses how well the variety has adapted to the soils and conditions present in Castilla La Mancha and shows the innovative vocation of a winery that has committed, since its inception, to the quality of a wine area as extensive as Castilla La Mancha. It is a strong, greedy and mineral wine. Very suggestive.
